Hi, I’m Thomas, and welcome to my website.
These “about” pages are usually written in the 3rd person, but where’s the fun in that? Nope, not going to do the stuffy intro, and instead, I’ll share a little story.
In the sixth grade, I took a career test, the type that asks a bunch of questions and then spits out an answer of what profession would fit your personality and desires. Well after filling the dots on the sheet with my number 2 pencil, my test results came back stating I’d make an excellent mid-level manager at a banana factory. True story.
Well, no not really, you guessed it. The test said that due to being shy, lonely, and afraid, with probably some festering mental trauma, I should be a writer and get my issues all out on the page for everyone to read. Okay, okay, it didn’t exactly say that, but it felt like it!
Anyway, it did say being a writer fit my personality, so knowing this test predicted the exact best career for me that would make me happy and fulfilled even a few dollars along the way, I did the most sensible thing possible, I ended up becoming an Auditor…and hated it. Why did it take so long to figure out that that little test had a point?
So now I write Young Adult Fantasy novels and some really bad poetry here and there (we’ve all got our hobbies).
Fantasy is a genre that kicks butt. Dragons, cough, cough, but also seeing what’s going on in the world today, sometimes we need stories that help us ask important questions, what’s the role of empathy in politics, does having love in your heart make you weak, and do they have tacos with Hatch chilis in the Celtic afterlife? I mean, these are important questions.
So stick around, come back for updates, some poetry now and then, and hopefully fiction that inspires, or at least has some good recipes.
